  • Trader Joe’s will offer new pastel-colored micro tote bags this spring in local stores. The tiny bags (4.5 by 3.5 inches) come with a larger reusable bag, according to an internal Trader Joe’s notice following social media rumors.  The Providence Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Warwick School Department did not pass a $50M bond for new sports facilities on Feb. 3 and now seeks at least $13M to curb rising out-of-district tuition costs. Officials warn that without upgrades, future spending will stress budgets and raise property tax estimates — impacting local homeowners.  Warwick Post

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Rhode Island doctor was reprimanded after a toddler pricked his finger on an unsecured needle stored in a sharps container behind an exam table at the pediatric office. The doctor must pay $1,100, take an infectious disease course, and adopt new safety measures.  WJAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Olympic medalist Marissa Castelli now coaches younger skaters at the Skating Club of Boston (with 18-year-old Mia Rocco) and said her ultimate goal is to return to Olympic ice as a coach.  WJAR
  • Yesterday, high school basketball games brought close finishes and big plays across divisions. Times2 edged Prout 81-78 overtime while Burrillville beat West Warwick 70-62 as teams moved toward playoffs.  The Providence Journal
