- ➤ The Blizzard of 2026 broke records by dropping 37.9 inches of snow at T.F. Green International Airport by 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 23 (exceeding the 28.6-inch record from 1978) while 35.5 inches fell in one day. The Providence Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ USPS warns mail and package deliveries may be delayed today in Rhode Island due to a blizzard that brings 18 to 24 inches of snow and winds up to 70 mph. Some post offices have closed under travel bans and hazardous road conditions. The Providence Journal

- ➤ The American Heart Association warns that shoveling heavy, wet snow in Rhode Island's first blizzard in four years can strain the heart (especially for those over 45) and urges residents to use ergonomic tools, take breaks, and lift with care. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Essential Care New England staff braved a blizzard on Monday by strapping on skis and boots to reach Kent County Hospital & Women & Infant's Hospital as roads became impassable. WJAR
- ➤ Twins Liliana and Amelia DiPrete, nicknamed blizzard babies, were born Monday, Feb. 23 at Women & Infants Hospital amid a storm; Liliana arrived at 8:44 a.m. and Amelia at 9:06 a.m., marking a memorable start for their Warwick family during challenging weather. The Providence Journal
