EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After a record-setting blizzard yesterday, the RI Education Commissioner will request an emergency reduction of the school year to address lost instructional time. School districts may adjust calendars pending local board approvals. The Providence Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Connecticut sent 80 pieces of equipment + 125 trained drivers to help Rhode Island clear snow-covered side roads after a record blizzard, as persistent snowfall left many streets impacted. Local officials worked to ease frustrations by addressing areas beyond the main routes. WJAR
- ➤ Yesterday at 9:00 a.m., Rhode Island Energy reported 66 customers without power, a sharp decline from thousands after the blizzard, while National Grid and Eversource noted significant drops & customers can report outages online. WJAR
- ➤ Following this week’s historic blizzard, RIPTA continues to enforce detours on routes 1, 6, 18, 33, 34, 63, 64, 68, 78 and 92; riders are advised to expect delays and exercise caution at slippery bus stops. WJAR
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The non-profit Centurion Foundation secured over $100 million in financing to purchase Roger Williams and Fatima Hospitals, with the sale scheduled to close on March 5. State & health officials extended the deadline to ensure the hospitals remain open to serve the community. WJAR

- ➤ On Feb. 26, Bryant's Mia Mancini hit a game-tying 3-pointer to force a second overtime against UMBC and the Bulldogs lost in the extra period, leaving fans with a hard-fought finish. The Providence Journal
