  • The new East Bay Bike Path bridges are open, giving local cyclists a safe ride over the water. The structure improves bike connections+ and offers a fresh route for community riders+ to enjoy.  The Providence Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Ron Trotta plays the piano for arriving travelers at T.F. Green Airport this morning. His live performance gives a warm welcome to passengers starting their day.  The Providence Journal
  • Over Easter weekend, Real Housewives members visited local spots including a Cranston restaurant, a Pawtucket soccer game, and a Boston aquarium while Liz McGraw celebrated a newborn grandchild and Jo-Ellen Tiberi defended Cranston on social media — highlighting their active role in community life.  The Providence Journal

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Motor Cab Insurance Company has received nearly $7 million in state tax credits to create 370 jobs by 2030 (189 at its Lincoln center) and support over $200 million annually in economic output, with hiring underway since January and employment promised through 2037.  WJAR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • CCRI will award its first honorary degrees to the late Judge Caprio and journalist Dan Barry during commencement on Tuesday, May 12 at Amica Mutual Pavilion — Barry will deliver the commencement address.  WJAR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is setting up a detour for Route 37 eastbound traffic starting Monday night to remove a structurally deficient bridge at exit (3A) in Warwick. Demolition work will proceed through the summer and later in 2026.  WJAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Monday saw many high school sports results across the region, with Moses Brown boys lacrosse scoring 19 to 7 over South Kingstown + baseball and softball teams posting strong wins. Coaches are reminded to submit scores from 6 to 10 p.m. for daily updates.  The Providence Journal
  • The Longplex Softball Player of the Week nominees are revealed for Week 1 of the season, and readers can cast votes online until Friday. The winning player will receive a bucket of internet clout + boost local softball pride.  The Providence Journal
