- ➤ Justin Mitchell—owner of Just In Time Flowers—announced that $5 from each sale will be donated to help 14-year-old Madison Brodeur, who was diagnosed with a rare cancer and is treated at Hasbro Children's hospital. The drive will continue into busy holidays like Mother's Day as community support grows. WJAR
- ➤ This summer, free food truck events will run across the region as Warwick hosts Food Truck Nights at Crowne Plaza on April 17 and Roger Williams Park Carousel Village launches Food Truck Friday on April 18, running weekly until September (with live music and family activities). Additional gatherings include monthly Food Truck Concert Nights starting April 24 in Cumberland and events in Richmond, Fall River, Lincoln, Johnston, Portsmouth, Attleboro, and Burrillville (attendees pay only for food and drinks). ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters responded to a roof fire at a manufacturing facility on 55 Service Avenue in Warwick on Monday night and quickly extinguished the flames—no injuries were reported. WJAR
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Prosecutors dropped charges against two Warwick men accused of assault and battery and disorderly conduct after a 25-second altercation at a Patriots game on Sept. 17 that led to the death of New Hampshire fan Dale Mooney—authorities said the decision was made in the interest of justice. The Providence Journal
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ M. Night Shyamalan’s supernatural romantic thriller will start filming this summer at Cranston Street Armory and other locations in Rhode Island; production will move in May 1 with filming beginning in June and continuing into August, creating 400 full-time crew jobs and 2,000 extra positions. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal & Phoebe Dynevor and will highlight the state’s sites. The Providence Journal

- ➤ The Cannabis Control Commission approved final rules for 24 new retail stores and expects thousands of applications by the end of the year—these new rules include spots for social equity and worker-owned cooperative licenses. The commission will first certify eligible social equity candidates before holding a random lottery and may hire outside help to manage the process. The Providence Journal
