  • Dunkin’ offered one million free coffees on Tuesday, April 21 when Dunkin’ Rewards members in Rhode Island used promo code (FREECOFFEE1) on its app while supplies lasted; customers had seven days to redeem their drink, excluding cold brew and extra-large hot coffees.  The Providence Journal

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The aurora borealis might appear tonight in several states including Rhode Island during the Lyrids meteor shower, though northern areas like Alaska have the best chance. Stargazers are advised to look east after 10 p.m. (local time) for a glimpse of the natural display.  The Providence Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Congress increased the SALT deduction cap from $10,000 to $40,000 for Rhode Island taxpayers making up to $500,000 today; those earning over $600,000 remain under the previous limit and may see federal tax savings of $9,000+ to $10,000 while small businesses continue to use a Rhode Island pass-through tax.  The Providence Journal
  • The Rhode Island Department of Transportation and other leaders kicked off Work Zone Awareness Week on Tuesday to remind drivers to reduce speed in construction zones (officials noted recent crashes and urged compliance with the move over law).  WJAR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Warwick’s boys tennis team, a joint effort by Pilgrim and Toll Gate, won 7-0 on Monday at Veterans Middle School to reach a 6-0 record and will face Cranston East on May 4 as they aim for a deep playoff run.  The Providence Journal
  • Rhode Island high schools have produced top football players from Steve Furness to Xavier Truss, with selections spanning decades and featuring NFL careers+ All-State honors. The list highlighted by the Providence Journal showcases local stars from schools like Bishop Hendricken and La Salle.  The Providence Journal
  • High school sports Tuesday brought a variety of results across baseball, softball, lacrosse, and more. Hendricken won 7-3 in Lincoln and East Providence edged Cranston East 1-0 & posted a strong pitching effort as several schools recorded standout offensive plays.  The Providence Journal
