CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Three Rhode Island men (Kuron Mitchell, 25; Alberto Rivera, 25; and Luis Aceituno, 27) were charged with stealing over 7,000 catalytic converters worth more than $2.4 million from parked cars in southern New England and Boston, selling many to a Providence recycling company. ABC 6

- ➤ Paige Moreau, a Roger Williams University student from Lincoln, died on Saturday in Italy after a medical emergency. Colleagues at Bisbano and Associates remembered her lively spirit and announced the firm will sponsor a scholarship in her name for the architecture program. ABC 6
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ NOAA Fisheries is using fish DNA to study predator and prey links from seawater samples & help improve ecosystem research. Rhode Island anglers now have a new pact as the spring tautog season opened on April 1 with a 16-inch minimum size and a three fish per person daily limit until May 31. Warwick Online
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Dan McKee has announced new plans to boost Rhode Island primary care by filing a budget amendment that will speed up the review of provider rates and require insurance companies to increase payments and cut delays—he also announced $5 million in grants for practices. Anchor’s Lincoln office in Warwick will keep offering patient care until the end of June as its first facility closes today. ABC 6
- ➤ The Warwick School Budget Commission will hold a public hearing today at 3 p.m. in the meeting room of the Sawtooth Building in Apponaug to examine a projected $7 million school deficit and discuss fixes — commission chair Ernest Almonte said Tuesday. Warwick Online
- ➤ Gov. Dan McKee unveiled a plan Tuesday to strengthen primary care by awarding up to $300,000 for recruiting new doctors and $75,000 for practices serving more patients — the plan also offers $5 million in grants and aims to ease slow insurance approvals; Attorney General Peter Neronha called the move a slapdash response to political pressure over the Anchor Medical closure.
