- ➤ Hundreds of Newfoundland dogs gathered at Crowne Plaza on Friday for the national specialty held by the Newfoundland Club of America. Owners practiced with their dogs during trial events, classes and forums + the program will finish today with an awards banquet free to the public. WJAR

- ➤ Attorney General Peter Neronha announced that Roy Mangum from Warwick was sentenced to 18 years in prison and 35 years probation after he pleaded nolo contendere to bank robbery, a high-speed chase, and a crash that injured a father — his crimes included using a firearm and stealing money. WJAR

- ➤ Ruth Buzzi, the Westerly-born entertainer known for her role on Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, died at 88 in Texas after she had been in hospice care for Alzheimer’s. WJAR

- ➤ TF Green management has decided to keep TSA security after inspections showed wait times improved drastically since fall. The airport had planned to replace TSA with a private company that would have operated under federal oversight through the TSA Screening Partnership Program. ABC 6

Jack Reed said on Friday that the new $18.4 billion Navy contract for two submarines will boost pay, hiring, and facilities at Electric Boat in Quonset Point—he added the move is vital for Rhode Island workers.
