CULTURE NEWS

  • The Real Housewives of Rhode Island spinoff was announced on May 8 and will film in spring, summer, and early fall, with producer Andy Cohen saying the cast is very Italian. • The African American Museum held its inaugural preservation breakfast Monday, May 12th to honor Black women for their contributions to the state. The event also served as a fundraiser to help preserve Rhode Island Black history and featured keynote speaker attorney Misty Delgado from the state department of children, youth and families.  ABC 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will shift the travel lanes on Route 113 over I-95 and I-295 in Warwick to the eastbound side starting Friday—lane changes will support bridge work on Route 113 scheduled to last through the summer and aim to restore original lanes on new bridges by year's end while one ramp remains closed for the rest of the year.   ABC 6
  • Today, the Senate approved a bill from Sen. Appollonio—who represents Warwick—that lets the Department of Health director review back-logged license applications for medical professionals. Voting will remain open until Friday night so local fans can help decide this week’s winner, who will be announced next week.  The Providence Journal
