CRIME NEWS

  • Warwick police evacuated residents from an apartment complex at 23 Cedar Pond Drive after a 64 year old man reportedly threatened neighbors with a knife on May 15 and police said he was taken into custody—he was taken to Kent Hospital for a mental health evaluation and charged with disorderly conduct while Cranston police seek him for a 5th degree arson warrant—in a brief standoff without incident.  The Providence Journal
  • Warwick Police SWAT team assisted federal agents in arresting 33 year old Montrel Crudup at 32 Kilvert Street on narcotics charges—he faces manufacturing, possession, and delivery of crack cocaine plus conspiracy charges and will be arraigned at Kent County Clark.  WJAR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Friday night, RIDOT shifted all travel lanes on route 113 in Warwick where the highway crosses I-95 and I-295—leaving only two eastbound lanes open and closing the exit to I-95 until mid-summer—and in Providence, additional lanes opened off I-95 north on the viaduct service road at exit 38 for route 146 and State Offices, with lanes in effect by 6 a.m. Saturday.  ABC 6
  • The City of Warwick's Tax Collector will auction real estate for unpaid taxes and assessments at Warwick City Hall at 3275 Post Road on May 30th, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. The auction follows a notice in the Warwick Beacon on May 8th—properties sold can be redeemed within one year by paying due taxes plus a penalty and monthly interest.  Warwick Online
  • Rhode Island T.F. Green International Airport experienced delays on May 16 due to runway repairs after a failed inspection revealed an unsuccessful patch job. Flights resumed around 5:30 a.m., including one from JFK with Storm Team 10's Nick Russo on board — officials promised further updates.  WJAR
