- ➤ Big Lots will open over 70 stores in nine states on June 5 after its sale to Gordon Brothers Retail Partners—its only location in Warwick at 2485 Warwick Ave remains available for lease. The reopening does not include Rhode Island as the rollout follows a recent May expansion in other regions. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Federal prosecutors indicted eight people on May 21 after fake pop-up messages tricked more than 300 seniors — including some here — into transferring funds that resulted in an estimated $5M loss, and investigators continue to pursue additional leads. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Nearly 200 years ago, Rocky Point Amusement Park opened in Rhode Island and grew to be a popular attraction with rides, clambakes, and even baseball fields where legends played — it closed in 1994. Today the site is Rocky Point State Park at 1 Rocky Point Ave, offering hiking, fishing, and biking from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Last week, about 170 nursing graduates received their gold and green pins during a pinning ceremony at CCRI’s Flanagan Campus in Lincoln, as families cheered and the graduates, including valedictorian Jarod R.
