BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Atlantic Shark Institute's new motorcycle plate will be distributed this Saturday, May 31 at Russ’ Ocean State Harley-Davidson on 25 Albany Road in Warwick. More than 10,000 orders were received and riders who ordered by May 18 will pick up their plates—supporting the institute's ongoing research.  WJAR

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Gamm Theatre announced its 2025-26 subscription season featuring five plays running from November to June. The season begins on September 25 with Tony Kushner’s Angels in America, Part Two: Perestroika—blending reimagined classics and bold modern stories—and subscription packages are now on sale.  Warwick Online
  • Club Bagdad in Lakewood was known as Rhode Island’s 'smartest supper club' and hosted banquets, dances and shows in the 1930s, but it later experienced legal disputes and dramatic incidents including an alleged contract battle with Belle Baker (New York vaudeville star) and a fall accident involving singer Antoinette Cortez (22-year-old performer). A poorly rigged gas meter led to a fatal leak that claimed the lives of two employees before further law violations prompted the club's closure.  Warwick Online

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rhode Island residents with Medicare Advantage plans may lose coverage at Brown University Health hospitals if United Healthcare and Brown Health do not reach a new contract. The current contract runs until June 30 but if no deal is made the hospitals will be out of network from July 1—Saint Anne’s and Morton remain covered by separate deals.  ABC 6

SPORTS NEWS

  • On May 28, Drew MacLeod won the RIIL boys golf championship in a playoff at Cranston Country Club—he bested his competitors in a close match.  The Providence Journal
  • Adriana Eaton won the RIIL Girls Golf Championship with scores of 66, 75, and 141—her second win in three years, she showed steady play on both fairways and greens.  The Providence Journal
