EDUCATION NEWS

  • Officials broke ground on Toll Gate High School in Warwick and held a ceremony for Middletown Middle-High School on Monday. City and school officials will hold today's groundbreaking for Pilgrim at noon— the new schools are set to open for students at the start of the 2027-2028 school year.  ABC 6

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The RI House passed Rep. McNamara’s bill that will require soft-shell helmet covers for high school football players to help reduce head injuries—students or their guardians can choose not to wear them. The bill now moves to the Senate where Sen. LaMountain introduced similar legislation.  Warwick Post

SPORTS NEWS

  • Cumberland High School girls won the state track championship Sunday at Brown Stadium and ended West Warwick’s two-year run, earning their first title since 1989. Kiley DeFusco and Payton Goulding led the team with several gold medals and a meet record in the 800 meters — key achievements that fueled a 69-point victory.  The Providence Journal
  • Rogers won the Division IV lacrosse championship on prom night.  ABC 6
  • St. Ray's won its first softball championship in ten years—ending a long title drought with a hard-fought game that brought pride to local fans.  ABC 6
