- ➤ Warwick Center for the Arts will host an acrylic painting workshop on July 10 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Participants will learn stencil techniques — layering methods — and how to use photo images to improve their painting skills. Johnston SunRise
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rhode Island lawmakers signed a law banning the sale of 'assault weapons' — the ban will take effect after July 1, 2026. The Providence Journal
- ➤ RIPTA will cut service, raise fares, and lay off up to 90 workers to try to close an $18M budget gap — a move that came after the board skipped a $480,000 insurance policy. Public hearings will run from July 28 to August 6 as the agency finalizes its plan and explores partnerships with local employers to boost ridership. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Mayor Frank Picozzi said severe IT issues in Warwick are delaying tax bills, which will not be mailed next week and will not have interest or penalty charges. Officials have not determined how long the delay will last — residents are advised to check for updates. ABC 6
