- ➤ Rhode Island’s Rose Island plate featuring the Pell Bridge, a lighthouse and sailboat art was named best by the Automobile License Plate Collectors Association with 396 points at an event in Providence on July 21. The plate was created by Ross Cann with support from Jan Slee and Kara Acosta for a historic fundraising effort that now has 471 registrations—officials hope additional orders will boost funds for restoration.
