- ➤ Paul J. Prochet, 98, died peacefully at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice in Providence on July 25. Calling hours will be held at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home on July 30 from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. and his service will follow immediately with burial planned at Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery. - ➤ Workers at Ocean State Job Lot loaded seven tractor-trailer trucks with 285,000 pounds of Plumpy'Nut on Monday to send much-needed nutrition products to children in Africa. The trucks will leave today—providing enough supplies to help 9,000 children. WJAR

- ➤ The Save RIPTA Coalition held a press conference on Monday and warned that proposed service cuts will affect more than 40,000 riders. They said the cuts could make it hard for workers, students, and older adults to get to work, school, or doctors — and they urged Governor McKee to secure more funding. ABC 6
