Good morning, Warwick.
Warwick writer Lonnie Barham wrote The Dog Catcher's Tale—where a dog catcher named Gideon becomes involved in a kidnapping case as his routine work turns into a police investigation that also examines assisted death.
Barham sent a copy to a state lawmaker and plans to share the book with all state legislators to spur discussion on the issue.
The Rhode Island DMV confirmed that if you purchase a used car with a valid inspection sticker, you do not need to have it reinspected because the sticker transfers to the new owner.
For more details, motorists can visit the DMV website (which lists inspection station addresses and phone numbers).
Twenty years ago, a push to allow Sunday car sales gained momentum when blue laws had banned weekend auto sales in Rhode Island—the state's 2007 budget removed the final blue law to permit dealers to open on Sundays.
Attorney General Peter Neronha announced an amended decision cutting the cash requirement for Centurion Foundation’s purchase of Roger Williams Medical Center and Our Lady of Fatima Hospital from $80 million to $45 million — with an additional $35 million due within 90 days and a commitment to invest $50 million in hospital improvements over three years — as the sale is set to close in late August or mid-September pending Texas bankruptcy court approval.
The Rhode Island AG’s office announced a special election period for United Healthcare Medicare Advantage patients after four Brown University Health hospitals stopped accepting them at the start of the month.
