- ➤ The 5th Annual July Cereal Challenge collected 2,106 boxes of cereal to benefit Westbay Marketplace run by Westbay Community Action, setting a new record in the fight against food insecurity. - ➤ Apponaug Village Creamery — located at 10 Music Lane — has enjoyed a successful summer after opening on April 12 and hosting the Scoops and Sirens fundraiser on Aug. 10, where Warwick Firefighters served ice cream and helped raise $2,000 for the local animal shelter. Warwick Post

- ➤ Rhode Island’s school lunches are rated healthy, with a recent State of School Lunch Report by ProCare Therapy ranking the state 8th with a score of 62.38. The report noted that over 87% of schools serve locally grown food—showing strong support for nutritious meals. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Rhode Island public school districts set different first days for the 2025-26 school year following guidelines that require a start by the first Thursday after Labor Day—Warwick Public Schools begin on Aug. 28 while some districts start as early as Aug. 26 and others after Sept. 2. - ➤ A study by The Opportunity Atlas shows that people raised in Rhode Island had higher average credit scores than the national average of 681 for those born from 1978 to 1985, with scores ranging from 688 in Providence to 705 in Washington. The data compares these scores against regions with scores as high as 757 in North Dakota and as low as 593 in Louisiana — highlighting regional differences in credit history. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Since March, a local altruist has left $50 bills around Providence with clues posted on the Instagram account @cashdropprov, drawing more than 30,000 followers. The cash drops occur every other day at landmarks like the Riverwalk — and sometimes venture to nearby communities such as Warwick where local businesses join to boost foot traffic.
