  • Capt. Brandon Hagopian of Cranston caught an 800-pound bluefin tuna last week at the mouth of Narragansett Bay—NOAA Fisheries said the recreational fishery is closed until December 31 as the quota has been reached.  Johnston SunRise

  • Rhode Island influencer Olivia Culpo returns to TV as host of Netflix's new cooking competition Next Gen Chef — where 21 young chefs will compete at the Culinary Institute of America for a $500,000 prize, with all eight episodes set to stream on Sept. 17 at 3 a.m.  The Providence Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, RIDOT will shift all travel lanes on Interstate 95 North to the left near the Route 37/Jefferson Boulevard service road in Warwick to set up a work zone for demolishing structurally deficient bridges over Jefferson Boulevard and the Pawtuxet River — lanes, off-ramps and on-ramps will remain open though narrowed. The change will continue through fall.  ABC 6
