- ➤ Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got engaged after two years of dating when Swift announced it on Instagram on Aug. 26. The singer—known for her love of Rhode Island and her Westerly home—has not set wedding plans as locals wait to see if she will marry in the Ocean State. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Rhythm and Roots Festival will take place at Ninigret Park in Charlestown from August 29 to 31 with acts including Lettuce, Molly Tuttle, Griffin William Sherry, The Wood Brothers, and Trampled by Turtles. The event will deliver funk, bluegrass, and folk sounds—highlighting a local tie as Lettuce's trumpet player Eric Bloom is from Bristol. Warwick Online

- ➤ Beloved Judge Frank Caprio, known for handling traffic tickets with care on Caught in Providence, died last week and the Providence Journal is collecting memories of his impact as his public visiting hours will be held on Aug. 28 at the Rhode Island Convention Center—free parking is available at Providence Place mall—and his funeral will be held on Aug. 29. - ➤ Rhode Island leaders met at Revolution Wind’s logistics hub at Quonset Point to urge the federal government to reverse the stop work order that stranded a dozen millwrights and halted work on the nearly complete offshore project.
