- ➤ A homeless woman who was living in a tent on the wooded Puritan Drive property owned by the Warwick Housing Authority has left the site, and workers removed the remaining supplies. Councilman Bryan Nappa sent photos to neighbor Sherry Kuntze—while the Housing Authority now uses no-trespass orders to block any new camps. Warwick Online
- ➤ Woodbury Union Church invites the community to attend a Peace Pole dedication on Sunday, Sept. 21, with a worship service at 10 a.m. and a ceremony at 10:45 a.m. in its church garden — coffee, refreshments and fellowship will follow. Warwick Online

- ➤ Del's Lemonade introduced a new, tart Green Apple flavor for fall that sold out at the Big E. Local shops will offer the new flavor and returning Frozen Apple Cider until early to mid-October while Frozen Hot Chocolate will come back in November with a new mocha flavor in development—exciting choices for loyal fans. - ➤ Warwick Public Schools began the new year with strong progress—Winman Middle School earned NEC accreditation and Sherman Elementary received state recognition for improved attendance—and plans to upgrade facilities and expand afterschool programs as a balanced budget supports these changes. - ➤ Sherman Elementary School earned state recognition by ranking third statewide in attendance improvement last year when the Department of Education — with Gov. Dan McKee — presented a certificate. Warwick Online
- ➤ Students at Oakland Beach Elementary School were surprised Tuesday when Izzy—a certified therapy dog—visited in a cheetah-print stroller as part of a program for unified walks and classroom readings. Owner Mary Chisholm and Special Olympics RI will guide inclusive activities, and the school will hold its second annual unified basketball tournament for fourth- and fifth-graders in the spring.
