- ➤ Layne is a kind and shy golden dog with dark chocolate eyes who is 2 to 3 years old and loves playing with other dogs. The rescue is seeking a female only home with another dog — Layne will appear at the Dogtopia adoption event in Warwick on Saturday, October 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Warwick Online
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A poll by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center of 737 Rhode Island residents showed that Helena Foulkes leads Gov. Dan McKee, whose 24% approval rating was hurt by criticism over the Westbound Washington Bridge—one of the top issues cited by voters. The survey, taken Sept. 17-23, adds key insights as candidates prepare for the upcoming governor's race. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Warwick's new traffic cameras will now issue tickets to drivers who speed in school zones, run red lights, or ignore a school bus arm with fines of $50, $85, and $250. Part of each fine will pay for the cameras — a measure to improve intersection safety. WJAR
- ➤ Governor Dan McKee faces strong criticism from political rivals and state officials over keeping a forensic audit of the Washington Bridge hidden—critics say the 64‐page report shows decades of neglect and call for oversight hearings to hold leaders accountable. The Providence Journal
- ➤ On Saturday, RIPTA changed 45 bus routes that led to longer wait times for weekend riders—some commuters reported delays of up to 90 minutes. The agency made these changes to manage a $10 million budget shortfall amid public criticism. WJAR
