- ➤ Today, the Rhode Island Law Enforcement Torch Run in Warwick hosted its first Heroes Pull fundraiser for Special Olympics Rhode Island. Teams pulled a fire truck and police car 40 feet; the top two teams then faced off in a tractor trailer pull—Wyatt Detention Facility winning first prize with all funds raised going to the charity. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rhode Island Department of Transportation announced it will resume nightly closures on I-95 and I-295 for bridge reconstruction in Warwick starting Monday, with closures running from 10:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m. The department said closures will begin later on Monday to ease holiday travel and detour directions will be provided. - ➤ Fans of local high school sports are invited to vote in the Providence Journal’s fifth girls volleyball athlete of the week ballot, with voting closing Friday at 11:59 p.m.—last week, Coventry’s Emily Spadoni led with 54.53% of the votes while standout players from Barrington, Portsmouth, Bay View, Tolman, and East Providence join the contest.
