- ➤ The Vatican brings Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel: The Exhibition to the Warwick Mall today and through January 18th+ the show displays 34 reproduced paintings with tickets starting at $19.55 for military and youth. Visitors can learn about the frescoes in a camera-friendly setting. ABC 6
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A report by Visual Capitalist shows Rhode Island households earned a median income of $83,504 in 2024—$1,900 more than the national median—placing the state 17th in the nation. Census Bureau data also shows coastal states had higher earnings while many southern states earned less. The Providence Journal
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Local legislators have assembled a committee to study the frequent flooding of the Pawtuxet River to protect residents and businesses. - ➤ The American Cancer Society (ACS) will host the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk of Providence on Sunday at 9 a.m. at Kennedy Plaza in Providence to mark 40 years of Breast Cancer Awareness Month; more than 1,000 people (expected turnout) will join the event. ABC 6
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ A recent Roger Williams University housing fact book shows regional single-family home prices rose 11% and apartment rents increased 4% in Connecticut and Rhode Island—more than one-third of households now spend most of their income on housing, with 44% facing severe cost burdens. ABC 6
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Friday's high school games saw Lincoln School secure a 4–0 win in girls soccer, a 5–2 win in girls tennis, and several win streaks in volleyball with standout players from teams like Classical and Coventry—coaches were reminded to submit their results by 10 p.m. Saturday's schedule lists boys and girls soccer, football, field hockey and girls volleyball games starting at 10 a.m. through 6:30 p.m., setting the stage for more school sports action. - ➤ Lincoln football snapped its three-game losing streak with a 37-15 win over Coventry Friday night—senior Carson Mellen drove the scoring with key runs that energized the team and pushed them into a playoff spot.
