Vinagro Construction Company in Johnston is hosting a food drive for the Rhode Island Community Food Bank that began Oct 1 and will accept donations until Nov 1—staff, vendors, and community members are donating a variety of essential food items at bins located in Johnston and Cranston. - ➤ The Warwick Police Department will honor first responders who jumped into water to rescue Frank Davis from his submerged vehicle on Arnold’s Neck Road over the weekend—officers and firefighters found him 100 feet from shore and took him to Kent County Memorial Hospital in serious condition. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On October 1st, the five-member school budget commission approved a request for proposals for a performance audit to examine class sizes, contracts, building use, and redistricting— the audit is expected to take four or five months and will help shape a plan to reduce a $9 million deficit. - ➤ St. Peter School in Warwick faces a leadership shake-up as several teachers resigned and principal Denise Alcala stepped aside after an investigation found no wrongdoing related to posting private school information online—Kevin Peloquin remains as temporary leader.
