- ➤ A food website named Seven Stars Bakery the absolute best bakery in Rhode Island because of its wide range of baked goods (including Irish soda bread) that draw many local fans. The local chain, started in 2001 and now owned by Bill Daugherty and Tracy Daugherty, runs seven locations (in Providence, Cranston, Rumford, and East Greenwich) and continues to be a neighborhood favorite. CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Comedian John Mulaney is set to return to Rhode Island next March—he will perform at PPAC on March 27 as part of the Lil Rhody Laugh Riot festival on his Mister Whatever tour. His website shows details for the festival’s second year while organizers have not yet made a formal announcement. WJAR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) says shooting down a drone hovering over your property is illegal and Rhode Island law gives the state exclusive power to regulate drone flights. Drone operators must register and follow safe flight rules, while residents should call law enforcement if a drone flies dangerously (DEM rules apply in state parks). The Providence Journal
- ➤ Providence Amtrak Police K9 Dutch passed away on Wednesday after complications from pneumonia, according to the department. A celebration of life is set for Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Final Gift Pet Memorial Center in Cranston (attendees include his handler and colleagues). ABC 6

- ➤ Eric Rueb introduced a new plan for high school football realignment that relies on common sense instead of complex math to group schools by size – he also shared his picks for Thursday's, today's, and Saturday's games, including choices like the Northmen and Townies. The Providence Journal
- ➤ Thursday high school sports saw several key wins across Rhode Island—North Kingstown beat Chariho 2-1 in Division I girls soccer, Exeter-West Greenwich won 4-0 over Classical in Division III girls soccer, and South Kingstown earned a 2-0 win in Division II field hockey while girls volleyball teams also posted strong results. Coaches must send in game scores by 10 p.m. and Friday’s schedule features field hockey, football, soccer and volleyball matches at various local venues. The Providence Journal
