EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Concrete was poured yesterday at the new Toll Gate High School in Warwick as 2,000 yards of concrete completed about two-thirds of the foundation; school leaders said the facility will welcome students in fall 27 with an athletic facility to follow in 29—officials noted a possible $5–$10 million budget overrun that the city may help cover. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Prospect Medical Holdings asked a bankruptcy court on (Oct 30) to either turn over Fatima Hospital and Roger Williams Medical Center to the state or allow their closure after failing to secure funds from the Centurion Foundation (which twice attempted to raise the necessary financing) as the company suffered $18.7 million in losses over six months. Attorney General Peter Neronha said his office would oppose the motion and work to keep the hospitals open. The Providence Journal
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Moonlight Companies is recalling conventional yellow and white peaches sold at local stores between Sept. 16th and Oct. 29th due to Listeria concerns, the Rhode Island Department of Health said. The recall excludes products marked with Washington or Organic — the peaches are grown in California. WJAR
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Eric Rueb and Jacob Rousseau reviewed key high school football wins in Week 7 such as St. Raphael’s narrow win over Cumberland, Classical’s win over Ponaganset, and Narragansett’s comeback over Scituate—while they and WPRI producer Jillian predicted the winners for the final regular season games.
