- ➤ Warwick held a soft opening for its new ice skating rink outside City Hall on Wednesday. Mayor Frank Picozzi said the rink will officially open Saturday (operating through winter with farmers markets and roller skating available in warmer months). ABC 6
- ➤ Lakewood Baptist Church celebrated its 2025 Thanksgiving Food Collection held in November that gathered 966 pounds of non-perishable food for Westbay Marketplace and families facing food insecurity. Volunteers sorted and packed the donations for pickup earlier this week under the guidance of Lincoln Smith (HELP END HUNGER Food Ministry). Warwick Online

- ➤ The Pilgrim Senior Center hosted the Warwick Words of Wisdom gallery on Tuesday, Nov. 25, displaying 27 framed letters and art from seniors collected by Brett Taylor, a high school junior. The exhibit remains on view at 27 Pilgrim Parkway until Friday, Dec. 5. Warwick Online
- ➤ Sleepwalker, a thriller starring Hayden Panettiere, will premiere Jan. 8 at Apples Cinemas with public viewings starting Jan. 9. The film was shot across the state — from Warwick’s Goddard Memorial State Park to East Greenwich — using familiar settings to heighten its suspenseful story. The Providence Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Toll Gate High School released its first quarter honor roll, recognizing students in honor and high honor categories across grades 9 to 12. The school published the list today (Thursday, Dec. 4) to celebrate academic success and boost motivation for continued achievement. Warwick Online

- ➤ At a crowded Tuesday meeting in the Sawtooth Annex, teachers and parents demanded that the Warwick School Budget Commission end its work over a funding issue ($2.1 mil) while the mayor assured that the city would cover the extra cost if needed. Warwick Online
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Rhode Island Department of Health supports the current hepatitis B vaccine schedule for newborns as the federal advisory committee meets today and tomorrow (ACIP) to review possible changes. The department cites a 99% decline in hepatitis B infections since its 1991 recommendation. The Providence Journal

- ➤ Neighbors in Gaspee Plateau are concerned after Rhode Island Custom Builders split a lot and now plan to build on a tiny parcel next to homes; residents worry about sewer lines, water table issues and limited parking as local officials review pending permits. Warwick Online
