About this event

Glen Erik McGlynn is an author, artist, and military veteran who has spent most of his life collecting stories—some real, some imagined, and some probably improved in the retelling.

After eight years in the U.S. Navy and more than two decades with the Rhode Island Air National Guard, Glen eventually decided that making things up on purpose was considerably more fun than writing military plans and reports.

His fiction reflects the stories he has always loved: ordinary people dropped into extraordinary circumstances, characters who rely on loyalty, humor, ingenuity, and occasionally questionable judgment to get themselves through. His novels include Feral, a post-apocalyptic story about what happens when civilization begins coming apart, and Aristotle’s Library: The First Line, the beginning of a fantasy adventure about four teenagers, impossible stories, and an ancient librarian who happens to be a fifteen-foot spider.

When he isn’t writing, Glen is usually painting, sculpting, gardening, traveling, working on one of an unreasonable number of hobbies, or listening to an audiobook while pretending he is accomplishing something else.

He lives in Rhode Island with his wife, Jody, his partner since they were teenagers. They have two grown children, grandchildren, and cats who remain unconvinced that writing books constitutes productive employment.

Glen writes the kinds of stories he likes to read: adventure, fantasy, science fiction, and tales about regular people discovering they are capable of considerably more than they thought.
